Sarong Kebaya Design Challenge
For Primary and Secondary School Students
June 2011 - February 2012

Want to make learning journeys fun for your students? Bring them to the Sarong Kebaya exhibition for this design challenge! Selected entries stand to win Art Friend vouchers and will be featured in our museum's online exhibition page.

How do I take part in this challenge?

• Download the templates below and print the required number of templates for your students.
• Arrange a visit to the exhibition. Contact our Education Officer via email  or 6332-8048. Bookings must be made 4 weeks in advance.
• Pick Peranakan-favoured motifs, colours and patterns from the exhibition* to design objects such as a watch, a school bag, handphone cover, etc.
• Only pencils are allowed into the galleries. Clipboards may be loaned from the museum.
  
  *Entries will be disqualified if the school failed to visit the Sarong Kebaya exhibition.

Guidelines

1. There will be 4 categories of judging:
   
   

   Category	Age Group
   A	7-9
   B	10-12
   C	13-14
   D	15-17

2. Contestants may submit only one entry per monthly theme.
3. All entries will be judged based on creativity, imagination, use of Peranakan-favoured motifs, colours and patterns from the exhibition in their design.
4. Contestants may use any kind of art medium.
5. Schools can submit up to a maximum of their 10 best scanned designs per age groupto the museum by the last day of each month via the Submission page.
6. The resolution of the scanned images should be at least 200 dpi and saved in a Zip folder.
7. The 10 best monthly entries from each age group will be featured on the museum’s online exhibition.
8. The top 3 entries from each age group will be awarded gift vouchers from Art Friend.
